South Florida Makes Energy History with New Solar Panel Rule

From the Doral Tribune:

Starting in 2015, Miami-based environmental activist Delaney Reynolds began asking dozens of public officials across South Florida to consider working with her to create a law that would change the way new homes are constructed – and “help change the world for the better.”

One mayor just a few miles from here answered her call, Phil Stoddard, widely known as an activist in his own right, a proponent of renewable energy, an environmentalist. The South Miami mayor quickly responded and set a course whereby he and Reynolds would work side by side for a year to research and write the language that would make up a new “Solar Requirements” section to the city’s Land Development Code.

Brevard County Transportation Impact Fee Moratorium is Sunsetting

The Brevard County Building Department has issued an update regarding the sunsetting of current transportation impact fee moratorium:

On, September 6, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners voted to not extend the Transportation Impact Fee Moratorium. Therefore, the Transportation Impact Fee Moratorium sunset on December 31, 2016. The following criteria must be met to be eligible for an impact fee exemption under the moratorium:

  1. The Building permit must be issued by December 31, 2016.
  2. A Certificate of Occupancy must be issued by December 31, 2017.
  3. For Commercial Development 20,000 square feet and over, a Certificate of Occupancy must be issued by December 31, 2018.

Projects that require site plan approval will need the site plan approved before a building permit can be issued.  The County offers a concurrent review process wherein the building permit application can be reviewed concurrently with the site plan review.  Please find the concurrent review request form at: Concurrent Code Review Request.pdf

Miami Beach System Maintenance

The City of Miami Beach will be performing system maintenance this weekend. Here’s the notice from the city:

The City of Miami Beach will be conducing system maintenance to the Citizen’s Access Portal (CAP) and Munis Self Service starting Friday, August 11 at 3 p.m.

During this time, users will not be able to access CAP or Munis, which includes scheduling inspections, paying invoices, applying for permits or licenses, etc.

The system should be operational on Saturday, August 12 by 7 p.m.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience.

Update from the City of Plantation

The City of Plantation has made the following changes, effective July 31st, 2017:

  • A 3% convenience fee will be assessed on all credit card payments. The minimum fee is $1.00.
  • Due to privacy and security upgrades, online payments will be suspended until further notice.
